Tri-County Amateur Radio Club 7a Sheepwalk Road, Castlerobin, Lisburmn @2022
The first step in amateur radio is to gain your Foundation Licence. While there are many routes to studying for and gaining your licence at Tri-County Amateur Radio club, we also believe that studying to pass the exam is counter-productive, hopefully that you go from your Foundation Licence to your Intermediate Licence and finally the Radio’s Amateur’s Exam. Our Foundation Licence course is built around the philosophy of teaching and learning about all aspects of amateur radio, not just to pass an exam, but to support individual members and the wider radio community
What will I learn on the Foundation Licence course? You will learn about all areas of amateur radio and have the opportunity to join in with all practical sessions to gain confidence and experience in operating, learning the theoretical parts of the subject. THE EXAM The Foundation Licence is very straightforward and consists of 26 multiple choice questions which you have 60 minutes to answer. The examination can be taken online or on paper, candidates sitting examinations online will be advised of their result immediately after completing the exam together with a detailed feedback regarding their performance. Your paper exam is marked by an invigilator straight after the exam so you also have an indication of your exam result. The formal marking of your exam is carried out electronically at the RSGB Examinations Department. At Tri-County Amateur Radio Club we do not charge for any training, the only cost to you is for your test and should you wish to join Tri-County Amateur Radio Club, there is an annual membership fee of £20 plus £5 per month to put towards the rent of the property. Most members disregard this and pay the £80 in one payment but we also realise that they are people who are not in a position to pay and arrangements can be made with the Treasurer to split the cost over months. Membership gives you access to all of our clubs facilities to enjoy, we are fully active in world wide events, field days, competitions and any activity to do with Amateur radio as you will see in the club gallery.
