Ballycopeland Windmill 16th March 2024

By Tammy Saunderson Secretary Tri-County Amateur Radio club The Club had a great opportunity to have a field day at Ballycopeland Windmill in support of the Cafe. A big thank you to all who turned out in support and visited us today despite the weather! This Windmill is the only windmill left in the world that used the Hopper Roller Reefing system to harness the power of wind. The Heritage site is coupled with the Ability Cafe which has given disabled workers purpose, pay and pride and acted as a welcome haven for the locals and visitors. But now County Down’s much loved Ability Cafe is set to close. If your looking for somewhere different to take the kids over the next couple of weeks, why not drop in to visit the Windmill and support the Cafe before its closur e! We would like to give a big massive thank you to Jacqueline and the team who kept us all fed and watered today it was greatly appreciated.
